Energy-efficient hot water for a Papakāinga development in Motueka

TAEC is proud to have supplied and installed our energy-efficient hot water systems in every home at the papakāinga development for Te Awhina Marae in Motueka. This is the largest papakāinga project that Te Puni Kōkiri (Ministry of Māori Development) has supported. The development includes 20 stand-alone homes as well as marae buildings. It is designed to have minimal impact on the environment and aims to be one of the first zero-carbon marae in New Zealand.

Each home has an EcoTop solar thermodynamic cylinder system, giving residents reliable and highly energy-efficient hot water. The smaller homes have an EcoTop 250L system and the larger homes have an EcoTop 300L system.

Solar thermodynamic systems collect heat from the sun and the air around the panel, day and night, so they keep heating water on cloudy days and through winter. Find out more about how it works.
